Eunchong was colonized by a fiercely independent splinter group of the EOCC via a GAIA Ark. After a quick survey of the system after arrival in 798 AT, the spacer-dominated colonists realized that Eunchong was not going to be an easy place to thrive in. Most rare elements were locked within the planets' inaccessible cores, and the rest were thinly spread across the few small asteroids that survived the system's age. Materials extracted from these asteroids were used to construct a number of habitats in orbit around the gas giant Salvador. Amidst the system's material scarcity, one location stood out: Bunsu. Otherwise situated neatly within the system's habitable zone, this Mars-sized planet experienced strong tidal heating from both the parent star and its massive planetary neighbor Palida, resulting in high geological activity. The eruptions brought many vital elements that would otherwise be locked away within the core to the surface, where they could easily be extracted and utilized.

However, the colonists, having designed their mission to revolve around space inhabitation, lacked the expertise to design and operate vehicles in planetary environments. The Bunsu mining project was hence plagued with failures; the first few vessels disintegrated in Bunsu's atmosphere or impacted the planetary surface, and several more suffered catastrophic failures shortly after touchdown. Concerns over the dwindling resources grew along with the failure count, and increasingly, the colonists questioned their leadership and the project. Under heavy pressure, the colonial government was forced to adopt a less radical take on their doctrines, and the president, Mauro Young, was forced to resign. The newly reformed government was not against responding to the River of Stars Charter. Their request for an ambassador-judge and technical help was answered by Ran, otherwise known as Epsilon Eridani.

Bunsu, a volcanically active Hephaestian world
With a stable, steady supply from Bunsu promoting the construction of new habitats and fast population growth, the system's inhabitants grew confident in their future, leading to a rise of revivalist tendencies and jingoism. Ultimately this gave rise to many separatist movements and conflicts over League tariffs and trade with nearby First Federation systems. The situation was eventually resolved by system control ships from Epsilon Indi.

Although Eunchong technically remained independent at first, their culture and ideology became so heavily diluted by the Eridani culture (especially the Epsilon Indi cultures) over the next few hundred years that by 1100, little traces of the original culture remained. The system was officially integrated into the Eridanus League in 1128.

When the League eventually dissolved, a large number of the polities in this system became associate members of the Zoeific Biopolity, although others joined the Negentropy Alliance, the Mutual Progress Association, and the Terran Federation.
