Myths and the Unexplained

Myth and Rumour
Image from Bernd Helfert

As Terragen mindkind spreads out among the stars, new discoveries are constantly made. Some of these are far beyond the understanding of modosophont or even transapient comprehension. Others are understood in terms of their structure and function but their purpose or meaning was lost eons ago with the passing of their xenosophont creators. Finally, there are mysterious items that are perhaps nothing more than the toys or tools of godlike Terragen transapients who moved on to new things. Around these places and things grow the stories, fables and myths that have become modern day legend.

  • Lovecraftism  - Text by M. Alan Kazlev
Mythos revolving around a crypto-dualistic chaos-cosmology; teaches that known space is a small island of light, beyond which, and in the interstices between which, are other intelligences of a much older nature. The name refers to an atomic age fabulist who popularised this worldview, but modern lovecraftism differs in a number of important elements.
  • Psychic Phenomena - Text by M. Alan Kazlev
Pupposed paranormal phenomena such as apparitions, auras, dousing, levitation, poltergeist activity, premonitions, out-of-body travel, spiritual mediums, and spirit recordings, that cannot be reduced to or explained in terms of hallucination or error, subtle use of known technologies, or clarketch. As with the paranormal in general, there is debate among whether or not these are valid phenomena. See also spiritualist phenomenon.

The scientific, parascientific, or ascientific study of magic and miracles.
  • Transingularity, The  - Text by M. Alan Kazlev
A state beyond even the known singularities, sometimes conceived of as something 'spiritual' and unrelated to toposophy per se. A usage best known in the Sophic League.
  • What the Thunder Said  - Text by Stephen Inniss
A classic interactive work of philosophical literature, based on the varying answers that transapients give to the deeper questions that still baffle ordinary sophonts.
