Reling, Rel
Relings are entities that have been designed from scratch by virtual sophonts to live in a real-life environment; in this they are the functional opposite of a virtual sophont which has been designed or modelled by real-life sophonts to live in a virtual reality scenario. A reling can take the form of almost any clade, or assume a form never imagined before. The new entity may have close ties to the virtual sophonts who designed it, or be completely independent. Sometimes relings act as ambassadors from the virtual world to the real world, but often they just want to explore reality for themselves.
Relings are often quite unusual in appearance compared to most modosophonts, since they can take a wide range of forms. The most extreme relings are known as relmonsters, which are strange and sometimes dangerous creatures that are deliberately designed to appear intimidating. Non-sophont relings are known as relife, and are usually neogenic in nature. A small but increasing number of worlds have entire ecologies consisting mainly, or solely, of relife organisms; although early forms of refile were often marginally viable or entirely unsuited to living in reality, the technologies required to create viable organisms using a virtual template are reliable and sophisticated in the Current Era.
Some relings (and other incarnates), dissatisfied with rl, return again to virtual reality.

- Reality - Text by M. Alan Kazlev
The nature of things as they really are, behind the appearance of surface phenomena or ordinary baseline consciousness. Depending on one's philosophical or memetic inclination, may refer to mundane physical existence, to a series or multiplicity of physical, metaphysical, or toposophic grades, or to a monistic concept of the Absolute Reality.
- Relanimal - Text by Jorge Ditchkenberg
A relifed animal.

- Reltrapworld - Text by Jorge Ditchkenberg
A fraction of virtual worlds are run by bizarre, breakaway virtual beings, which often have only a limited understanding of the rl. For the real persons entering or interacting with them via virtual reality, they appear as nothing less than nightmares brought to life, or deadly traps. Reltrapworlds are illegal and punished by erasing the virtual existence(s) who created them. Nevertheless, some still sneak through.
- Relvec - Text by Jorge Ditchkenberg
A relifed vec.
- Relworld - Text by Jorge Ditchkenberg
[1] A symbolic term for all relifed things, sophonts, places etc.
[2]Place in real life controlled by virtuals.
First applications were advanced, semiautomatic rl/Net interfaces with limited manipulation by virtuals. They soon grew and diversified, including learning centers, entertainment places and relfactories. Includes dangerous reltrapworlds.

- Virchophobia - Text by Thorbørn Steen
Virchophobia is the irrational fear of virches. Virchophobes who find themselves in a virch will suffer from anything from restless anxiety to full-scale panic attacks. Generally virchophobes have no trouble avoiding virches, and once they have realized their disorder will be able to live almost normal lives. Virchophobia sometimes includes the fear of virtuals or a-life, but these fears are generally classified separately.
- Virchspace - Text by M. Alan Kazlev
Any digital space or environment; pertaining to virch or a cybercosm.
- Virchuniverse - Text by M. Alan Kazlev
Generally, an aggregation or collection of thousands of interconnected virchworlds or cybercosms, all sharing the same basic ontology and lay-out, to make traveling from one to the other easier. Sometimes also used to designate a single extremely large virchworld.
