Generic term for any brain implant (particularly DNIs) that enhances a biont's sensory ability, memory, or intelligence. Neural implants first appeared during the middle Information Age, and had become fairly ubiquitous by the early Interplanetary period. However, even today there are a number of clades and cultures that dislike neural interfaces for various and different reasons, ranging from ludd neo-primitivism to chronic organicism.
